Beaches in San Francisco – Aquatic, Ocean, China, Baker and even nude beaches is what you will find on this page!
I haven’t found San Francisco beaches to be the warmest but you can still enjoy them with a warm coat. They can be sunny and warm during September and October if you’re lucky!
Here are the beaches I have been to.
My Favorite Beach For Sunsets
Ocean Beach San Francisco
This is a beautiful beach where I like to watch the surfers. The waves usually aren’t too big but they still try to ride them. I like to go for a long walk along this beach because it’s 5 miles long and seems to go on forever. I like to finish my day here because this is a great place to watch the sun set into the Pacific Ocean.

Many San Franciscans Don’t Even Know About This Beach!
China Beach
China Beach is made up of a small cove with picnic facilities, a changing room, showers, sun deck and restrooms. It is said to be one of the safe swimming beaches in the city.
I love history and so I learned at China Beach that it was used as a camp by Chinese fisherman since the Gold Rush. Their efforts were acknowledged by the city and this China Beach was named after them.

Conveniently Located But Not Too Secluded
Aquatic Beach
Aquatic Beach is a ¼ mile long beach by Fort Mason, Ghiradelli Square and Fisherman’s Wharf. It’s bordered by docks and piers and is frequented by dog walkers, cyclists, and in-line skaters so it isn’t a really quiet secluded spot.
The waters are shallow and I usually find kinds her splashing about. I don’t put my toes in – it’s way too cold for me. I like watching the brave older Speed clad gentlemen swimming their laps – makes me feel warm as I sit on the beach! (no matter what the weather is!)
FYI: Nudists Are Closer To The Bridge
Baker Beach
I love this beach because it gives you a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge in a beautiful spot. It’s on the western side of the bridge and so it’s further away from the city and out of the hustle and bustle of it all.
I like to buy sour dough bread at Boudin’s and then come and eat it with real butter on the beach. I would say this is probably the most popular San Francisco Beach. If you don’t want to see the nudists then don’t walk down too close to the bridge!
