This hotel is close to Union Square where you will find the heart of San Francisco and great shopping, fine restaurants and the theater district. Union Square is just two short blocks away.

The hotel has a Victorian decor and a helpful staff who can help you with sightseeing arrangements and the front desk has a wonderfully large video library available to guests.

The White Horse Restaurant is inside the hotel and is an authentic replica of an Old English pub. I felt like I was in England when I walked into it. (Yes, I have been to England before...!)

The rooms are basic and simple but clean. You will find a private bath with either a tub or a shower, satellite TV, a refrigerator with an honor bar, phone and radio. I like the fact that they give you a complimentary continental breakfast each morning of your stay.

Tip: always try to find hotels that include a free breakfast to cut down on your eating expenses.

The lobby is warm and inviting and sort of feels like a formal living room in a nice neighborhood. I found this hotel to be cheerful and comfortable.

The Beresford Hotel San Francisco is a great value for the money. I think this is the only one of the cheap hotels San Francisco that gives you a free breakfast. That will save you about $7-$10 or more! Don't worry that this San Francisco lodging choice doesn't have air conditioning. They do have ceiling fans and air conditioning is rarely needed in San Francisco.

I highly recommend the Beresford Hotel San Francisco because of the great price and the great location. This is one of the great cheap hotels in San Francisco California - go for it - you won't be disappointed.
