Fairmont Hotel San Francisco - this San Francisco California hotel is stunning and I think possibly the best hotel in San Francisco by far!
It is one of the hotels in San Francisco California rich in history. As far as San Francisco lodging goes you can't get much more historic than the Fairmont Hotel.
It survived like a shining beacon on the hill during the 1906 Earthquake. Furnishings had been delivered but the hotel wasn't open yet when the 1906 earthquake struck. The hotel remained standing with some structural damage until the fire spread and caused damage. It was repaired and renovated as needed and opened exactly a year after the great quake.

The Fairmont Hotel is the home of The Venetian Room - the place where Tony Bennett first sang "I Left My Heart In San Francisco". Ella Fitzgerald, Nat "King" cole and James Brown and many other stars dined and danced there.
The Cirque Room was the first bar to open in San Francisco following prohibition.

The Penthouse Suite runs $12,500 per night and was the home of Benjamin Swig. He hosted visitors like Chief Justice Earl Warren and Govern Pat Brown and other big wigs.
In 1961 they opened the 23 story Tower which had San Francisco's first glass elevator and the Crown Room at the tip top.
The Laurel Court has been restored to its original design. It is the hotel's main dining room and bar and serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

The Fairmont Hotel San Francisco is one of the most historic hotels in San Francisco California. Many famous and important people have walked its halls. I absolutely love the lobby of this hotel because it makes me feel like I am visiting Europe in my own backyard. I recommend asking for a room in The Tower for the best views of the city by day and night. If you choose it for your San Francisco lodging I know you will not be disappointed.
