When I walked into the hotel to check it out I found the concierge so very friendly. I walked in with my video camera and he promptly introduced me to "Oliver" their hotel dog. He is a beautiful Irish setter who I think is the sweetest dog I have ever met. I wanted to take him home!

Outside The Hotel Monaco San Francisco

This hotel is found in the heart of downtown San Francisco. It is two blocks from Union Square which is the city's retail, dining and theater centers.

It is two blocks from the cable car line, walking distance to the Financial District. Also close by are the A.C.T. and Curran Theaters. If you are going to one of these theaters this would be the best hotel to stay at.

Lobby Area Of The Monaco Hotel

I loved the public areas in this San Francisco lodging choice. They were so warm and inviting and just made me want to snuggle up with a great novel and a warm blanket.

A Stunning Fireplace

The lobby has a French inglenook fireplace surrounded by vaulted ceilings that have fun murals of hot-air balloons on the walls. This is one of my favorite lobbies in all of the downtown San Francisco hotels. It is very warm and inviting. I wish I could sleep there!

Baobab Tree Memorial

I snapped a picture of this tree in the middle of their lobby. It is dedicated to the Kimpton hotel's founder Bill Kimpton. It is a life size "Tree of Life" sculpture by Albert Guibara.

Hotel Room At The Monaco Hotel San Francisco

The rooms are inviting and decorated with vivid stripes and colors. You will find Chinese-inspired armoires, canopy beds (I love sleeping in them!) and upholstered chairs with high backs - comfy! Some of the outlying rooms have window seats that overlook the theater district's coming and goings.

Fitness Center

The fitness center is free of charge for hotel guests and includes a workout room, eucalyptus steam room, spa and pool for you to exercise and unwind in. The spa is called Spa Equilibrium and offers facial, body and massage treatments.

Celestial Lady Painting

At the top of the stairs you will finding a beautiful painting of what they call the "Celestial Lady." It really took me in and was just so different and unique I just loved staring at it. It's another piece that makes the Hotel Monaco so unique and charming.
