Tip: the lines are ALWAYS long at this cable car station right outside the hotel. It sounds crazy but walk up Powell Street going north a few blocks and take the cable car there to avoid the long lines and save you LOTS of time!

Because it's in such a central location some guests have complained of noise. I haven't personally stayed at this hotel but I have visited it myself. If you like a great price and an even better location then this hotel is for you. The roooms are small but that's expected given the great location of this hotel. It is an older building but the rooms have been renovated and updated.

Tip: if you don't want to be bothered with possible noise ask for a room in the middle of the building where you won't have worry about this posing a potential problem.

The front desk is friendly and helpful. They are busy because of the popularity of this hotel. Don't be shy about asking for what you need because they have great attitudes and are happy to help.

The lobby is long and skinny but has 20 foot high ceilings. It made me feel like I should see Marilyn Monroe come walking through at any moment. I guess I would describe it as retro, old fashioned but updated. I liked these high back couches because they were different than the furniture found in so many other hotel lobbies!

The busy cafe inside the lobby has great pastries, coffee, breakfast goodies and also has sandwiches, ice cream (my personal favorite), and even fresh squeezed juices. I found this cafe to be really convenient for the hotel guests because it was right there. You can just grab breakfast and go outside and jump on the cable car and go visit Fishermen's Wharf.
