San Francisco Beaches

San Francisco beaches - fun things to do in San Francisco including the conveniently located shoreline Aquatic Park - fun!

If there is a hot day in San Francisco hundreds of people will flock to the beaches. The problem is those days do not happen all that often!

I put my toes in and they go numb in a matter of seconds!

Tips if you go to the beach:

  • I bundle up in layers and make sure one of them is a thick jacket if the San Francisco weather is cold and foggy.

  • Don't forget your camera - the beaches are beautiful.

  • I make sure to check the San Francisco weather forecast before I go.

  • I like to bring some hot chocolate if it's cold and enjoy a picnic.

Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach is the biggest and has 5 miles of relaxing surf and sand. You will find surfers, swimmers, dog-walkers and daydreamers here. A great place to get off the beaten tourist path for a few moments of peace and relaxation.

More Beaches In San Francisco

San Francisco isn’t well known for it’s surf scene since it’s not really hot here.

Here is a list of several more beach choices in San Francisco:

  • Aquatic Beach – right at the end of Fisherman’s Wharf in Aquatic Park

  • Baker Beach – one of the only nude beaches San Francisco – it’s not all nude though!

  • China Beach – lots of San Franciscans don’t even know it exists but I loved it! I asked several San Franciscans if they knew where it was just for kicks and they had never heard of it! It’s tucked away in a little quiet cove next to Baker Beach.

When I think of the city I don't think of San Francisco beaches but I love going to them! My favorite of them all is Baker Beach because it gives you a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
