Have you ever thought about taking a Sausalito tour? What is Sausalito first of all and where is it?

Sausalito is north of the Golden Gate Bridge located on Richardson Bay. It is located along the edge of the bay with gorgeous breathtaking views of San Francisc and Angel Island. It has some pricey galleries and boutiques but also some junky souvenir shops.

There is a houseboat community with one of the world's biggest floating homes where you can find hippie havens to mansions. You can find these at the northend of Bridgeway. There are just a tour in themselves you can take!

FREE Sausalito Tours

Visit the Bay Model Visitor Center. It is a 1.5-acre hydraulic model of the San Francisco Bay which includes showing you the moving tides. It also has exhibits of wetlands, wildlife, shipwreck, antique equipment, videos and video games. If you are travelling with kids and on a budge then this is the place for you. It is in an old Marinship warehouse at 2100 Bridgeway Avenue and admission is FREE! Contact them at 415-332-3879.

Another FREE tour you can take is to visit the Marine Mammal Center which is found at the Marin Headlands. You can contact them at 415-289-SEAL. Here they have hospital for orphaned, sick and injured seals, sea lions, dolphins, otters and whales. You can actually see them being fed, comforted and treated. Call ahead to make sure they have some patients. The goals of the center are to help the animals return to their environment and help us humans understand and appreciate them better.

Boat Tours

The Sausalito Wooden Boat Company offers tours that are 1 1/2 hours in a length on one of their wooden boats - a classic wooden yacht actually. You will see and hear about historic houseboats, floating art studios, WWII shipways, get a better understanding of the 'anchor out' community, and wooden vessels that sprinkle Sausalito's rustic waterfront.

A Sausalito Tour on a Segway Scooter

Tour explores the Sausalito waterfront, and makes frequent stops for photos and refreshments.

The tour includes visiting the local houseboat communities and seeing some of the legendary wooden boats in Richardson Bay, famous recording studios, bayside estuaries and an overview of Sausalito history.

I have taken the San Francisco tour by the SF Electric Tour Company but have not yet had the pleasure to take their Sausalito tour.
