This San Francisco California hotel is the ONLY hotel directly on Union Square which is the heart of San Francisco.

Outside The Hotel

Just steps away from this hotel you will find world class shopping at stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifith Avenue, Tiffanys and many more prestigious names. There are also world class restaurants all around Union Square. I could dine for days!

Amazing Location

If you want to be where there is a lot of hustle and bustle right outside your hotel door then the Westin Hotel San Francisco is the hotel for you. There are many activities always happening in Union Square. It is the city's main gathering place.

The hotel is made up of the original building which has Victorian moldings and Empire-style furnishing and a new modern 32-story tower with Asian-influenced lacquered elevators and glass elevators.

Hotel Desk

There are several very large lobby areas in this hotel. There were about 5 employees manning the front desk the time I visited. It is a very busy and large hotel.

Interesting to note: this is the place where Sara Jane Moore attempted to assassinate Gerald Ford, Al Jolson died playing poker, Suite 1219-1221 was where a big scandal occurred when a 30-year old aspiring actress died after a night of boozing with comedian Fatty Arbuckle.

Fanciest Starbucks Ever

In the lobby is the fanciest Starbucks I have ever seen. It's very convenient to get your morning coffee to get you on the move for those fabulous San Francisco attractions.

Hotel Room

The beds at the Westin are divine I can personally tell you. They are truly heavenly. This hotel is going to have a $40 million renovation of all the guest and common rooms.

Tip: if you want a larger room ask for one in the new tower - they are bigger and newer.

Award Winning Michael Mina Restaurant

I love the look of this restaurant. It's all done in creamy whites and beiges. I wonder how they can keep it so pristine looking! It has won many awards. I haven't eaten here personally but I have heard the food is fabulous.

The Oak Room

The Oak Room serves breakfast on the weekdays and lunch and dinner everyday.

Tip: if you are feeling out of energy check out their Super Foods menu for breakfast.

WestinWORKOUT Center

The WestinWORKOUT Center features a Wii console and a new "Brainbody Fitness" Program. They also have LifeFitness treadmills, bikes, stairmasters, and elliptical cross-trainers.

The Coolest Grandfather Clock Ever

Tip: even if you are not staying at the Westin St Francis Hotel drop by the lobby just to check out the Great Magenta Grandfather Clock in the hotel lobby.

Lobby Right Off Powell Street

The cable car line runs right in front of the hotel. Just inside the hotel is this beautiful lobby where you will find Michael Mina's fabulous restaurant. I love the grandness of this lobby. It just feels like old-fashioned glamour to me.
