Fisherman Wharf

At Fisherman Wharf the Fishermans Wharf hotels in San Francisco include the Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and more! It's great to sleep near where lots of the action is and also the great views.

This page will teach you how to get the most out of your time along the waterfront which is a very fun place to visit!

Northern California tourism offers many activities for your San Francisco things to do list. There are great restaurants such as Aliotos and attractions like the USS Obrien.

I have lived here for many years and there are so many things to do I still haven’t done them all.

A Typical Wharf View

It’s fun to watch the fisherman coming in from the day with their catch and also to stroll along the wharf and see what’s for sale.

Having Fun

There are many yummy things to eat on the wharf. I usually have a sour dough bread bowl and then a fresh crab cocktail to top it off – delish!

Aliotos - San Francisco Restaurant Review

Aliotos is a the oldest family owned restaurant on the Wharf and opened in 1925. It is still operated and owned by descendants of the original Alioto family. The are known for their fabulous cioppino and they have a crab stand, outdoor crab market and fine dining.

Hotels Fishermans Wharf
San Francisco

They have the usual Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Sheraton, and Holiday Inn Express as part of the waterfront hotels. One of my favorite Fishermans Wharf hotel San Francisco is the Argonaut Hotel San Francisco. It’s just a couple of blocks from the wharf area and right across the street from the Hyde Street Pier and steps away from Aquatic Park.

Sour Dough Bread

Sour dough bread is everywhere. And it is world renowned.

Take a trip to Boudin’s and you can watch through the window sour dough alligators and turtles being made. Step inside and you can see the fresh bread delivered above you in baskets straight from the oven.

I never leave without taking at least one loaf home – my kids would kill me if I didn’t!

USS Jeremiah Obrien

The USS Jeremiah Obrien is a U.S. destroyer that went on 7 missions that you can tour. It is located on the other side of Musee Mecanique. If you didn’t know about it you just might miss it.

I If you love history then you will want to be sure to visit.

fishermanwharf Pier 39 San Francisco is about two blocks from the Wharf. It’s a nice walk to get there. Plan to take your time and you can see the street performers and get some free entertainment along the way.

The Bush Man

Ask any San Franciscan what’s up with “The Bush Man” and they will tell you all about him. But in case you’re afraid to ask I will tell you.

The Bush Man is a man who hides behind some bushes he holds in his hand and when a very oblivious tourist walks by he jumps out from his bushes and scares them. If you see a crowd gathering by Fisherman Wharf and you’re wondering why you have probably found The Bush Man!
