SF Electric Tour Company

I decided to give the SF Electric Tour Company a try. I have always wanted to try a segway scooter tour but had never taken the time or initiative to do it. I’m not the world’s most coordinated person and I didn’t want to make a fool out of myself if I couldn’t pass their training course!! Wouldn’t that be great having to face my 4 kids when I couldn’t even drive a Segway scooter! They’d never get in the car with me again!

So I ventured out alone - told my hubby I was doing "research for my website!" One Saturday morning I jumped on Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) with my bike.

I booked my tour on-line at SF Electric Tour Company and it was so easy! They sent me an email with a ticket voucher. I printed out it and they had very detailed and excellent directions for me to find their location. Sometimes it is difficult to find places in San Francisco.

It is a little tucked away but with their helpful directions I had no trouble finding it. Their site is actually located next to the Buena Vista Cafe where the first cup of Irish coffee was ever poured in the United States.

SF Electric Tour Company has pretty much cornered the market.

They offer a San Francisco tour, an Advanced Hills of San Francisco Tour (you can take this one after taking a regular tour) and a Sausalito tour.

Overview

They start with a 45-50 minute training on how to safely operate a Segway scooter. Then you hit the streets. They have radios in each Segway and they give you a fully narrated tour as you are riding.

Tours are limited to ten riders and ages 12 and up over 100 lbs (45 kilos) are welcome.

They have NEW i2 Segways that have Lean Street Technology in each of their San Francisco Tours.

They have their website information in 9 different languages so I am assuming they can train anybody from anywhere how to ride a Segway scooter whether they speak the language or not!

Prices

Fees are $ 70.00 per person. Money well spent if you ask me!

Advance reservations are required.

Tour Length

Training takes 45 -50 minutes, Day tours are two hours long. Total: 2 1/2 - 3 hours including the training time. During the busy Summer season training time may be slightly longer.

Departure Location

Tours depart from the rear parking lot at 757 Beach Street near the corner of Hyde Street. Located across Beach Street from the Hyde Street Cable Car turn around in Fisherman’s Wharf.

Our training area is behind a building and is not visible until you are standing at the end of the driveway. There is a Wells Fargo ATM (red Sign) at the driveway entrance.
